The earliest years of a child’s life are some of the most important for learning and development. Through recent grants supporting First 10 Pre-K initiatives, the Conestoga Valley Education Foundation (CVEF) is helping ensure that our youngest learners—and their families—have the tools they need to start strong.

Two impactful initiatives, Baby Buckskin Bags and a subscription to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, are making early learning more accessible and engaging for children in the Conestoga Valley community.  Read on to learn more about these investments in our littlest Buckskins!

Baby Buckskin Bags provide families with essential early learning resources, helping caregivers support language development, motor skills, and early exploration from the very beginning. These thoughtfully assembled kits empower parents as their child’s first teacher, reinforcing the idea that learning starts long before a child enters a classroom. 

These bags will contain board books, a teether, an Oball/rattle set, a CV Baby Buckskin bib, and information to promote early learning, including material on the Basics Campaign and Young Mathematicians website, which are both First 10 initiatives.  In addition, it will include a registration form for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library so that families can begin to receive one free book per month until their child reaches the age of four!

CVEF’s support of the Imagination Library ensures that children receive high-quality, age-appropriate books delivered directly to their homes each month. By building a library of their own, children develop a love of reading while strengthening critical early literacy skills.

These programs highlight the profound impact of investing in early childhood education. By supporting families, encouraging reading, and promoting early learning experiences, CVEF is helping to lay the foundation for future success in school and beyond.

Sometimes, the most meaningful change begins at the very start—and these grants are helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to begin their educational journey with confidence, curiosity, and support.
